Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move individual to fresh air.  Seek medical attention if

breathing difficulty occurs.  If not breathing, provide

artificial respiration assistance (mouth-to-mouth) and call

a physician immediately.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water.  Get medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and clean before re-use.  Wash

all exposed areas of skin with soap and water.  Get medical

attention if irritation develops.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting.  Call a physician or poison control

centre.  If available, administer activated charcoal (6-8

heaped teaspoons) with two to three glasses of water.  Do

not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Immediately transport to a medical care facility and see a

physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide or halon

extinguishing agents may be used.

Product arising from burning: May emit toxic cyanide fumes when heated to decomposition

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing and a

self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Prevent further migration of the substance into the

environment.  Contain dry material by sweeping up or

vacuuming.  Vacuuming may disperse dust if appropriate dust

collection filter is not part of the vacuum.  Be aware of

potential for dust explosion when using electrical

equipment.  Wear protective equipment including eye

protection to avoid exposure.

Dispose of any clean-up materials and waste residue by

incineration, according to the Integrated Pollution Licence

granted by EPA.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should only be handled where adequate

ventilation/extraction is in place eg laboratory fume hood

or local exhaust ventilation.  An approved respirator and

safety glasses should be used.  Chemical resistant gloves

and body covering should be worn to minimise skin contact.

If handled in a ventilated enclosure, as in a laboratory

setting, respirator and goggles or face shield may not be

required.  Safety glasses are always required.

Storage: Store in tightly closed containers in a cool place.  Keep

containers upright and protect from light.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance will be packaged in black polyethylene bags,

size 38 inch x 60 inch x 4mm.  The bags will be contained in

drums complying with the following standards:

UN 1G/Y121S; UFC 12, Rule 51; NMFC Item 296.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: This material should not be exposed to temperatures above

130°C.  If this temperature is exceeded a rapid build-up of

heat and pressure may occur.

May react with strong oxidising agents (eg peroxides,

permanganates, nitric acid etc.)

Chemical reaction with water: None known

Dust explosion: As a finely divided material (powder), the substance may

form dust mixtures in air which could explode if subjected

to an ignition source.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Material is not recovered or recycled.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Controlled discharge is not recommended for this substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration is the preferred method of disposal according

to Integrated Pollution Licence granted by EPA.
