Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The general term red phosphorus includes numerous crystalline and amorphous forms with varying densities in the range between 2.0 and 2.4 g/cm3.

The density depends on the production method and especially on the treatment at high temperatures leading to darker colours and higher densities. Phosphor with a red colour usually has a density approximately 2.2 g/cm³, whereby temperature treated brown phosphors exhibit densities of above 2.3 g/cm³.
