Two studies are available in order to assess the acute toxicity to terrestrial macroorganisms on two similar substances of the category of Stilbene Fluorescent Whitening Agents. The two substances are OB 1 -DSA and OB 3a-MSA. Justification for Read Across is given in Section 13 of IUCLID.
The LC50 value in Eisenia foetida according to the OECD 207 was greater than 3000 mg/kg dry weight (Solvias AG. 1999) for OB 1 -DSA and greater than 3000 mg/kg dry weight (Solvias AG. 1999) for OB 3a-MSA. From the toxicity point of view, no difference can be established between the two substances since the tests have been conducted at fixed doses with no effects reported.
