Additional information

The solubility of the reaction mass of heptachromium tricarbide and trichromium dicarbide is very low. The amount of dissolved ionic species is so low that it does not significantly contribute to the environmental chromium concentrations in air, water, sediment or soil. The resulting levels are also far below toxic concentrations.

The results on the distribution obtained with soluble chromium compounds are not directly relevant for the assessment of the reaction mass of heptachromium tricarbide and trichromium dicarbide. However, detailed information on the environmental distribution of trivalent chromium compounds are presented in the ICDA documentation on environmental assessment of chromium (ICDA 2010).
