Additional information

Iron orthophosphate is a pale pink inorganic powder. It is also known to be yellowish-brown or white in colour. The substance has a melting point > 450°C and therefore a study for boiling point does not need to be conducted. The density was determined to be 2.75 at 21.7 ± 0.5°C. The Mean Mass Median Aerodynamic Diameter was reported to be 2.96 μm. The inhalable fraction of the test material, % <4 μm, was 60.2%, which would allow the test material to reach upper and lower regions of the respiratory tract. The water solubility of iron(III) orthophosphate was determined to be 21.10 ± 0.587 μg test item/L.

Overall, it can be concluded that the test item is not considered to possess any of the following hazardous physical-chemical properties: auto flammability and/or self-ignition, flammability, explosiveness and oxidising properties.

Thus, the substance does not meet the classification criteria for physical-chemical hazard in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
