Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Studies on the toxicity of C.I. Pigment Yellow 164 to algae are not available. Therefore data on the toxicity of the substance to algae refer to the structural analog C.I. Pigment Yellow 53. Two studies according to OECD 201 on the toxicity of C.I. Pigment Yellow 53toDesmodesmus subspicatusandScenedesmus subspicatusare considered. The results of a limit test performed by MOE (2001) using 1 mg/L test substance and a static exposure test accomplished by BASF AG (1999) indicate that the test substance has no toxic effects in the range of its water solubility (NOEC >1 mg/L and EC50 >100mg/L, respectively). A slight effect on the growth (based on biomass) was observed inDesmodesmus subspicatusat a threshold value below nominal 100 mg/l [EbC10 (72 h) = 64.1 mg/l], beeing probably due to a reduction of light intensity in the test vessels due to coloration or clouding in test water at high substance concentrations.
