Additional information

The water solubility of the substance glycerol tristearate (CAS 555-43-1) was determined according to national standard ASTM E 1148 - 02 with total organic carbon (TOC) method. The determined water solubility of the substance of 3 mg/L (application of approximately 230 mg/L corresponds with 1.3 % and application of approximately 1050 mg/L corresponds with 0.3% dissolved substance, respectively) seems to be overestimated for the pure substance. While the TOC method determines all dissolved species, this overestimated water solubility could be caused by free glycerol or fatty acid components. For the extreme value of 0.3% (minimal dissolved species) of 230 mg/L (minimal concentration) the calculated water solubility would be 0.65 mg/L.

Additionally, the measured water solubility of the most soluble and most similar substance of the category (C7 FA triester, CAS 620-67-7) is below 0.05 mg/L determined with column elution method. Since the longer FA triester component (C18) should be lower soluble than the shorter C7 FA triester component, therefore the water solubility of the substance will be deduced to be < 1 mg/L.
