Sampling and analysis

Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
Samples (20 mL) were taken from the middle of the test solutions of 0, 10, 22 and 50 mg/L at the start, after 48 h and at the end of the 96-h test period. The samples were concentrated and resolved with mobile phase (acetonitrile) before measurement.

Test solutions

Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
Test solutions were prepared using an Ultra-Torrax and quantitatively transferred to 4-litre test vessels. Then the different test solutions were stirred for 24h to ensure that the limit of solubility of the test substance in water was reached.

TEST SYSTEM
- Test chambers were calibrated to 4L and were not aerated during the course of the study.
- Chambers illumintated for 12h
- Light intensity: 700 lux
Allocation of fish: 7 fish in 3 group. First group: 0 and 50 mg/l, 2nd group: 0 and 22 mg/l, 3rd group: 0, 5 and 10 mg/l

TEST MEDIUM / WATER PARAMETERS
Reconstituted water, composition according to ISO/DIS 7346/1 was used as water for dilution. The dilution was aerated until oxygen saturation.
The pH was measured before the use of each batch. It was in the range of 8.0-8.3.

Details on results:
Fish showed changes in appearance and behaviour only at the nominal concentgrations of 22 and 50 mg/L, where also lethality occurred.
Effect concentrations were already reached after 24 h of exposure and did not increase during the test period.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The 96h-LC50 of p-Cyclopropylketoester for fish is between 22 and 50 mg/L, based on nominal concentrations and is above the solubility limit of the test substance in the test water.
