Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on a Log Kow of > 6.5 (obtained from a GLP-compliant Method A8 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC) some bioaccumulation of NExBTL renewable diesel components may occur, with an estimated overall bioconcentration factor (BCF) of 116 obtained after modeling using BCFWIN. BCFs for the individual alkane components present were in a range from 3 to 1950, with the predominant i-alkanes iC-15, iC-16, iC-17 and iC-18 (accounting for approx. 80% of the total) exhibiting individual predicted BCFs of 275, 60, 13 and 3, respectively. The BCFWIN model predicts that bioconcentration potential ofiso-alkanes containing 9-14 carbons (which account for < 8% of the total) will be highest.

This limited potential for bioaccumulation will be balanced by the ready biodegradability of NExBTL renewable diesel.
