Description of key information

The following study was provided to fulfil the data requirement under the endpoint density:
Walker JA & White DF (2010) DETERMINATION OF GENERAL PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES. Testing laboratory: Harlan Laboratories Limited, Shardlow Business Park, Shardlow, Derbyshire, DE72 2GD, UK. Owner company: Organo Tin REACH Consortium, c/o ReachCentrum, Avenue E. Van Nieuwenhuyse 6, B-1160, Brussels, BELGIUM. Report No:. 3109/0048. Report date: 2010-08-10.
The density of the test item has been determined to be 1.60 x 10^3 kg/m3 at 21.8 ± 0.5°C, using a gas comparison pycnometer, designed to be compatible with Method 109 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 and Method A3 Relative Density of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008. The study was also performed in compliance with GLP. The study was considered reliable and adequate for assessment.
The following were provided in support of the key study:
Peveler D. (2001) Material Safety Data Sheet MARK 645. Testing laboratory: Crompton Corporation, One American Lane, Greenwich, CT 06831-2559, USA
Gelest Inc. MSDS (2003) Di-n-butyl(maleate)tin - SND3320. Bibliographic source: http://67.217.111.136/msds/SND3320.pdf. Owner company: Gelest, Inc., 11 East Steel Rd., Morrisville, PA 19067. Report date: 2003-02-10
From the two presented material safety data sheets, the density of dibutyltin maleate was stated as 1.4 g/cm3 at 20°C, and 1.32 in the respective reports. As these were secondary sources of data, they were each assigned a reliability score of 4 as it was not possible to assess the quality of the data based on the limited details provided.

Additional information

A reliability rating of 1 was assigned to the key study, Walker & White (2010), according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the study was conducted in accordance with recognised guidelines and GLP. The density of dibutyltin was reported to be 1.60 x 10^3 kg/m3 at 21.8 ± 0.5°C

Supporting information is also available from 2 Safety data sheets (Peveler, 2001 & Gelest, 2010). The density of dibutylin maleate was reported as 1.4 g/cm3 at 20°C and relative density of 1.32, in the respective reports..

A reliability rating of 4 was assigned as the safety data sheets are secondary source information.
