Acute toxicity to fish has been investigated in a 96 hour test according to OECD test methods. The LC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L and the NOEC was 100 mg/L. (Q)SAR estimation indicates a LC50 > 100 mg/L, in agreement with the experimentally determined value of the structural analogue.

Acute immobilisation in Daphnia of the substance itself and a number of structural analogues has been investigated in screening tests of 48 hours duration and conducted based on OECD test methods. The EC50 (48h) was determined to be in the region of 100 mg/L.A definitive study resulted in an EC50 (48h) of 32.3 mg/L, a LOEC of 25.0 mg/L and a NOEC of 12.5 mg/L. (Q)SAR estimation indicates an EC50 in excess of 100 mg/L.

A study of potential algal growth inhibition of the substance resulted in an EC50 (72h) of 70.4 mg/L and a NOEC of 3.16 mg/L. (Q)SAR estimation indicates an EC50 in excess of 100 mg/L.

In studies of biodegradation, toxicity controls demonstrated that biodegradation of the reference substance was not inhibited by toxicity of the test substance at the tested concentration of 15 mg/L.

The ECOSAR model has been used as a reliable and appropriate QSAR model to apply to estimating long-term toxicity as it is based on a chemical dataset that calculates toxicity in addition to that from narcosis. The predicted long-term (28 d) NOEC for fish is > 100 mg/L and the predicted long-term (21-d) NOEC for daphnids is > 100 mg/L.
