Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Seek medical advice immediately. Show copy of safety sheet

to medical staff.

Treat as for HF or amines

Emergency measure - Skin: Seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: The product itself does not burn. For smaller fires, use dry

chemical or carbon dioxide, do not use water. For large

fires, flood fire area with water from as far as possible,

using a protective barrier and appropriate personal

protective equipment.

Carbon dioxide (CO2).

Dry chemical.

Dry sand.

Limestone powder.

Product arising from burning: Complete combustion will lead to carbon dioxide, sulpurous

oxides, fluorine, and water (leading to formation of

hydrofluoric acid and sulphuric acid).

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Face protection with breathing apparatus, coveralls and

chemical (acid) resistant gloves are recommended.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: If there is release of the substance from the containers,

absorb onto sand, paper or other suitable absorbent material

and dispose of as hazardous waste.

If in contact with the atmosphere or water, the substance

will degrade to hydrofluoric acid, sulphurous acid and

amine. Consider evacuation of staff from area affected by

spill. The area of spill may be washed with large quantities

of detergent and water.

Ensure good ventilation. Wear protective clothing including

breathing aparatus; treat as for fluorine gas.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance is not handled directly, but when charging

reaction vessels with the solvent preparation, protective

equipment will be worn.

The substance is classified as hazardous and special

precautions will be communicated on the SDS. Direct contact

is avoided.

The preparation with solvents may have hazards relating to

the solvents and precautions suitable for handling these

also need to be taken.

Storage: No special precautions other than conditions suitable for

materials unstable to direct heat, water and damp air; ie.

store below 30 Deg C and keep containers sealed.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Expected to be imported in steel containers containing a

maximum of 25 litres of the substance.

This is subject to confirmation according to customer

requirements.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Will react exothermically with water

Chemical reaction with water: Will react exothermically with water if left exposed to the

atmosphere or if in contact with water, the substance will

degrade to hydrofluoric acid, sulphurous acid and bis(2-

methoxy)ethylamine.

Dust explosion: Not applicable

Dust explosion determined by test: N
