Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Toxicity data is available for a monoconstituent substance that is considered a conservative surrogate for the components of this multi-constituent substance as a whole.  In a study that approximates to guideline, 2 -(2 -methoxyethoxy)ethanol (DEGME) did not inhibit biomass increase by a factor of 50% at concentrations up to the maximum tested of 1000mg/l. The data would support a conclusion of no effects at 1000mg/l.  This result is supported by information from the ECOSAR QSAR model, which predicts that the 96hr EC50 value for algae would be 6600mg/l with equivalent values for TetraEGME and PentaEGME (the main components of the multi-constituent substance) of 28 and 59g/L respectively. the value for DEGME can therefore be used as a very conservative surrogate to predict the algal toxicity of this substance.
