Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

Total zinc was removed 70%from the water column of the enclosure after 11 days, particulate zinc was removed 70% after 12 days, ion-exchangeable zinc was removed 70% after 12 days.

The Mass balance at end of the experiment was: (with 3.58g total zinc added): water column 6%, sediment 84%, epiphytes 10%.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Good quality study useful to assess endpoint of zinc removal from water column.
Executive summary:

Removal of zinc from a natural water column was assessed through an in-situ field water enclosure study.

Total zinc was removed 70% from the water column of the enclosure after 11 days, particulate zinc was removed 70% after 12 days, ion-exchangeable zinc was removed 70% after 12 days.

The Mass balance at end of the experiment was: (with 3.58g total zinc added): water column 6%, sediment 84%, epiphytes 10%.
