Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Vapour pressure (calculated): < 0.001 Pa at 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Experimental vapour pressure data are not available.

The test substance is the sodium salt of ethyl 4-hydroxybenzoate. It appears solid at ambient temperature with a high melting point (268 °C). For ionic solids with high melting points it is unlikely to have a high vapour pressure at ambient temperature. Thus it is scientifically justified to use calculated, non-experimental data for this endpoint.

The vapour pressure is calculated from structural parameters. The algorithm is derived from a correlation of a large number of chemical structures with experimental vapour pressures. Software: MPBPWin v1.43 (Syracuse Research Corp.)

The vapour pressure was determined to be < 0.001 Pa at 20 °C by the calculation method defined above.
