Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Brown liquid, Mink 2013

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
liquid

Additional information

The substance is a brown liquid.

The history of the sample has an impact on the on the physical state and appearance of the substance:

The composition is in a dynamic equilibrium between the two geometric isomers (E/Z) which have different melting points. Therefore the melting point of the substance was reported as a range: In a valid, reliable and conclusive study according to OECD 102, the melting temperature range of the test item was determined to be approximately 2.7 to 38.5 °C (276 to 312 K). Because the substance is in a dynamic equilibrium, the physical properties are driven by the ratio of these stereoisomers. The ratio of isomers changes given a period of storage and as the E-isomer becomes predominant in the composition the substance may solidify. Nevertheless, the material is expected to be handled in a liquid state.
