Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish

The 96-hour LC50 of the registration substance is considered to be 250 mg/L.

Long-term-toxicity to fish

In compliance with section 1 of Annex XI to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 (REACH) the study on long-term toxicity to fish was waived because the chemical safety assessment of the registration substance did not reveal the need to investigate further effects on fish. However, based on a read-across approach to the structural analogue Methanol (CAS 67 -56 -1) a NOEC of 7900 mg/L was derived.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

The EC50 of the registration substance was determined to be > 1026.7 mg/L.

Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

In compliance with section 1 of Annex XI to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 (REACH) the study on long-term toxicity to fish was waived because the chemical safety assessment of the registration substance did not reveal the need to investigate further effects on fish. However, based on a read-across approach to the structural analogue Methanol (CAS 67 -56 -1) a NOEC of >100 mg/L was derived.

Toxicity to aquatic algae

The 96-hour EC10 and EC50 (growth rate) of the registration substance was determined to be > 120 mg/L. The 72-hour NOEC (growth rate) is considered to be 120 mg/L.

Toxicity to microorganisms

The IC50 of the registrations substance was determined to be >1000 mg/L.
