At pH=7 there was some evidence of non-hydrolytic decomposition evidenced by a clear yellow-brown discolouration; at pH=9 there was much decomposition evidenced by a clear red-brown discolouration. It was tried to identify the decomposition products by NMR but this was unsuccesful.
