Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Ecotoxicity data for this substance are read across from the REACH dossier for divanadium pentaoxide. The REACH dossier for this substance includes data for divanadium pentaoxide and other pentavalent vanadium substances. The following acute and chronic ERVs are reported in the dossier for divanadium pentaoxide:

Acute ERV: 0.693 mg V/L

Chronic ERV: 0.120 mg V/L

The ERV values are reported based on concentrations of vanadium. In order to determine the appropriate environmental classification for magnesium divanadium hexaoxide these have been recalculated based on the proportion of vanadium contained within the registered substance. The acute ERV is therefore determined to be 1.51 mg/L and the chronic ERV is determined to be 0.26 mg/L.

As the acute ERV is >1 mg/L, an acute environmental classification is not required. As the chronic ERV is >0.1 <1 mg/L, and the substance is not rapidly degradable, a Category 2 chronic classification is required.

Magnesium divanadium hexaoxide is therefore classified as Aquatic chronic Category 2 (H411).
