Conclusions:
The water solubility of the registered substance was determined in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 105 and EU method A.6 without deviations on the registered substance itself. The method was considered suitable for the nature of the test item. Hence, there is no indication given that the results are not reliable. The results, presented as equivalent concentrations of test item whist monitoring the specified components, are 1.30 x 10E-2 g/l for the Amine, C12-14-tert-alkyl cation content, and 1.05 x 10E-2 g/l for the O,O-di-ethylhexyl hydrogen phosphorodithioate anion content. So with a water solubility of 10.5 or 13 mg/l, the test item is considered moderately water soluble acc. Ronald Ney, "Fate and Transport of Organic Chemicals in the Environment" 1995; p. 10.
Executive summary:

Testing for the water solubility of the test item was performed using a flask method, designed to be compatible with Method A6 Water Solubility of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 under GLP. The results, presented as equivalent concentrations of test item whist monitoring the specified components, are summarized in the following table:

Component

Equivalent Test Item Solubility (g/L of solution at 20.0±0.5°C)

Amine, C12-14-tert-alkyl cation content

1.30 x 10E-2

O,O-di-ethylhexyl hydrogen phosphorodithioate anion content

1.05 x 10E-2

Description of key information

Water solubility: 13 mg/l for the Amine, C12-14-tert-alkyl cation content, and 10.5 mg/l for the O,O-di-ethylhexyl hydrogen phosphorodithioate anion content at pH 6.6 to 6.7 and a test temperature of 20.0 ± 0.5 °C (flask method, OECD 105, GLP)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
10.5 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The given water solubility of 10.5 mg/l does not depict the actual situation properly. The water solubility was determined for the cation and anion part separately, to 13 mg/l for the Amine, C12-14-tert-alkyl cation content, and 10.5 mg/l for the O,O-di-ethylhexyl hydrogen phosphorodithioate anion content. As, due to limitations of this text field, only one value can be entered, the priority was set to the most critical one.
