Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Both an aqueous exposure bioconcentration test and a dietary exposure bioaccumulation test with Alcohols, C9 -11 -iso-, C10-rich (Isodecanol) were conducted with the rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss. The calculated mean lipid normalized steady state BCF was 21.4 L/kg wet fish weight. The calculated dietary, lipid-corrected BMF values were 0.006 to 0.016 with growth corrected whole body half-lives ranging from 0.55 to 0.21 days. These data are used as read-across for Alcohols, C8-10-iso, C9-rich.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
21.4 L/kg ww
BMF in fish (dimensionless):
0.016

Additional information

The registered substance and the tested substance (Isodecanol) are part of a closely related group of products with structural similarity, made by the same manufacturing process. (Further detail is provided in the assessment report for read-across.) Their structural and physicochemical properties follow an expected trend with C-chain length. The tested substance is more hydrophobic and has a higher log Kow than the target substance. As BCF is positively correlated with hydrophobicity, these values can be used as a worst-case estimate for Alcohols, C8 -10 -iso, C9 -rich. Both the aqueous and dietary bioaccumulation studies indicate that this substance exhibits a low potential to bioaccumulate.
