Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

PNEC freshwater sediment:
K_(susp-water) = 1.24 m³/m³
RHO_(susp) = 1150
Conversion factor (wwt -> dwt): 4.6

PNEC_freshwater sediment = (K_(susp-water)/RHO_(susp))*PNEC_water*1000
= (1.24/1150) * 5.05 * 1000
= 5.45 mg/kg wwt
= 25.05 mg/kg dwt

The PNEC (sediment-freshwater) of dry weight (dwt) of lithium fluoride is 25.05 mg/kg corresponding to the wet weight (wwt) value of 5.45 mg/kg (conversion factor: 4.6).

PNEC marine water sediment:
K_(susp-water) = 1.24
RHO_(susp) = 1150
Conversion factor (wwt -> dwt): 4.6

PNEC_freshwater sediment = (K_(susp-water)/RHO_(susp))*PNEC_water*1000
= (1.24/1150) * 0.505 * 1000
= 0.545 mg/kg wwt
= 2.505 mg/kg dwt

The PNEC (sediment-marine) of dry weight (dwt) of lithium fluoride is 2.505 mg/kg corresponding to the wet weight (wwt) value of 0.545 mg/kg (conversion factor: 4.6).

PNEC soil:
K_(soil-water) = 0.614 m³/m³
RHO_(soil) = 1700
Conversion factor (wwt -> dwt): 1.13

PNEC_soil = (K_(soil-water)/RHO_(soil))*PNEC_water*1000

= (0.614/1700)*5.05*1000

= 1.82 mg/kg wwt

= 2.06 mg/kg dwt

The PNEC (soil) of dry weight (dwt) of lithium fluoride is 2.06 mg/kg corresponding to the wet weight (wwt) value of 1.82 mg/kg (conversion factor: 1.13).

Conclusion on classification

Long term toxicity: Fish NOEC = 10.73 mg/L (read-across from LiOH*H2O)

Short term toxicity: Invertebrates EC50 = 132.44 mg/L (read-across from NaF)

Long term toxicity: Invertebrates NOEC = 5.05 mg/L (read-across from NaF)

Short toxicity: Algae EC50 = 58.71 mg /L (read-across from NaF)

Long term toxicity: Algae NOEC = 15.3 mg/L (read-across from LiCl)

Classification according to CLP

The available read-across test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The test substance is inorganic, thus biodegradation study was technically not possible. In all aquatic tests, the test item showed no toxic effect on the tested species. Based on the available data, lithium fluoride has not to be classified according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) criteria as the acute (LC50/ ErC50) and chronic toxicity (ECx/ NOEC) values are > 1 mg/L, as amended for the fifteenth time in Commission Regulation (EU) 2020/1182.
