Principles of method if other than guideline:
Water solubility and the activity coefficient at infinite dilution are calculated from liquid-liquid contacting until saturation of an aqueous layer. A further experiment, involving stripping of a solute from a non-saturated aqueous solution by an air stream, provides a value equivalent to activity coefficient at infinite dilution multiplied by vapour pressure. By using values obtained from both experiments, vapour pressure can be deduced.
