Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data on the toxicity of the target substance Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, ethyl & methyl esters (EC 941-981-3) to aquatic microorganisms are not available. The assessment was therefore based on studies conducted with the source substance Fatty acids, safflower-oil, ethyl esters (CAS 91051-53-5) as part of a read across approach, which is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Further justification is given within the overall summary chapter 5.1 and within the analogue justification section 13.

The effect of the source substance Fatty acids, safflower-oil, ethyl esters (CAS 91051-53-5) on the respiration rate of activated sludge was tested according to OECD guideline 209 (Desmares-Koopmans, 2010). Adverse effects of the substance to activated sludge were not observed. Thus after an incubation period of three hours an EC50 >100 mg/L was determined.

Based on the read across data inhibitory effects of Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, ethyl & methyl esters (EC 941-981-3) on the activity of aquatic microorganisms are not anticipated.
