Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The acute toxicity of bentonite acid leached to Daphnia was assessed (OECD TG 202). EC50 > 100 mg/L (based on eluate)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity of bentonite acid leached to aquatic invertebrates was assessed using a Daphnia sp. acute immobilisation test according to OECD 202. As bentonite is poorly water-soluble, 100 mg were suspended in 1L of water, shaken for 24h and filtrated. The eluate was used for the test without further dilution.

No immobilisation of Daphnia magna in the eluate was observed after 24 or 48 h. It can therefore be concluded that the EC50is >100 mg/L.
