Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A growth inhibition test with algae exposed to diglycerol was performed according to OECD test guidelines and GLP principles.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

A combined limit/range-finding test was performed, according to OECD test guidelines, exposing six replicates of exponentially growing algae, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, to a control and a concentration of 100 mg Diglycerol per liter of medium. Additionally, three replicates per concentration of exponentially growing algae were exposed to concentrations of 0.1, 1.0 and 10 mg/l. The initial cell density was 10E4 cells and the total test period was 72 hours. Analysis of the test substance showed that the concentration remained stable during the test period, and was 99% of initial. No reduction of growth rate or inhibition of yield was recorded at any of the concentrations of Diglycerol tested. The EC50 for growth rate reduction (ERC50: 0-72h) and the EC50 for yield inhibition were beyond the range tested, i.e. exceeded 100 mg/l. The NOEC for growth rate reduction and yield inhibition was 100 mg/l.
