Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A new guideline study (OECD 209) according to GLP is available for decyloxirane. After 3h exposure the EC10 and EC50 were

determined to be 36 mg/l and > 1000 mg/l, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
1 000 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
36 mg/L

Additional information

A new guideline study (OECD 209) according to GLP is available for decyloxirane. After 3h exposure the EC10 and EC50 were determined to be 36 mg/l and > 1000 mg/l, respectively.

Further tests with microorganisms are available, however, they were not used for the derivation of the PNEC microorganisms since they were performed with the microorganism Vibrio fisheri. Fibrio fisheri , however, is according to Tab. R10-6 Test sustems for derivation of PNEC microorganisms a marine species , with only a limited relevance for STP functioning. Therefore , the inhinbition control of the OECD 301 B test was used to deviate the PNEC microorganisms.

Test with fibrio fischeri:

The test item was investigated for toxicity to bacteria. In a scientifically well-documented, non-standard, non-GLP study, bacteria of the strain Vibrio fischeri were exposed to the test item in two to four replicates at different concentrations. In a 24 h-growth inhibition test, an EC50 of 47.9 mg/L test item was estimated.

In the same study, the test item was investigated for short-term toxicity in a 30 min-bioluminescence inhibition test with the bacterium Vibrio fischeri. .In this test, an EC50 value of 1.2 mg/L was estimated. (Blaschke et al, 2010)
