Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move to fresh air.  Treat symptomatically.  Get medical

attention if symptoms occur.

Emergency measure - Eyes: In case of contact with eyes, flush immediately with plenty

of water and seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15

minutes.  Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.  Get

medical attention if symptoms occur.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical advice straight away.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use appropriate medium for adjacent fire.  Hazchem code 2Z.

Product arising from burning: Hazardous decomposition products include:  oxides of

nitrogen, and nickel compound(s)

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: See Hazchem code 2Z.  Wear self-contained breathing

apparatus and protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect up and put in a suitable container.  Avoid

generating dust.  Clean surface thoroughly to remove

residual contamination.

Handling and storage

Handling: Personal precautionary measures:  Do not breathe dust. Avoid

contact with eyes, skin, and clothing.  Wear safety glasses

with side shiels (or goggles).  Wear impervious gloves and

protective clothing appropriate for the risk of assessment.

Use with adequate ventilation.  In case of insufficient

ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Wash

thoroughly after handling.

Storage: Keep container closed.  Keep away from heat.  Keep away from

sources of ignition.  Keep from contact with oxidizing

materials.  Exercise caution in heating, expecially in a

closed container.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: PACKAGING:

Substance will be a minor component in magenta ink

formulations, which will be packaged in 500-ml plastic

bottles, or 10ml ink jet cartridges.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Elevated temperatures can cause decomposition.  Hazardous

decomposition products include:  oxides of nitrogen and

nickel compound(s).

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: Powdered material may form expolsive dust-air mixtures.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not practical to neutralize the substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: A temperature of 1000 degrees C is expected to be sufficient

to destroy the substance.  Hazardous decomposition will

produce oxides of nitrogen.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: It is not practical to recover or recycle the substance.
