Due to the age of the ecotoxicity studies (30 years), these were undertaken well above the water solubility limit, an approach that nowadays would not be accepted. In these studies, no effects were observed at the lower test concentrations which were well in excess of the water solubility limit. Any effects noted at higher concentrations are therefore not due to solubilised test material but excess insoluble material.
