Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

log Koc 4.86 - >5 (KOCWIN v2.00)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No studies investigating the adsorption/desorption behaviour of Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18 unsaturated, isobutyl esters (CAS No. 84988-79-4) are available. Using KOCWIN Program (v2.00), log Koc values of 4.86 (C16 fatty acid) and 5.38 (C18 fatty acids, saturated and unsaturated) were calculated, based on the molecular connectivity index (MCI). The definite value is not fully reliable for the C18 fatty acid constituents, since they do not fit into the training set of neither of the methods. However, since the main factor determining the log Koc value of fatty acids is the chain length, it is to be expected that the C18 fatty acid constituents have a higher Koc value compared to the shorter constituent. Since the predicted value for the C16 constituent, which lies within the domain and is reliable, already indicates high adsorption potential, it can be assumed that the UVCB substance has high adsorption potential.
