Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
September 2018
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The guideline was followed as the solubility practice at "Salycylates and Chemical Private Limioted". The solubility study is conducted by using over 20 different solevnt media.
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
other:
Type of method:
flask method
Key result
Water solubility:
ca. 10 mg/L
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
ca. 7
Conclusions:
The solubility of "Salt of chlorhexidine and undec-10-enoic acid (1:2)" commercially known as salibact, according to the test is 10 mg/L.
Based on the water solubility of chlorhexidine, it is predicted to be ca. 1g/L at 25 °C. Due to the ionic properties, water solubility of chlorhexidine is expected to be strongly dependent on pH.
