Description of key information

In an activated sludge Respiration Inhibition Test according to OECD Guideline 209, the 3-hour EC50 of the test item was determined to be > 1000 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The objective of the study was to assess the effects of different concentrations of the test substance on the oxygen consumption of municipal activated sludge, compared to the blank controls in an Activated Sludge Respiration Inhibition Test according to OECD 209. The test was conducted at concentrations 1000, 500, 250, 125, 62.5 mg/L as nominal concentration based on test substance without correction of purity and blank controls. The toxicity of the test substance was followed by exposing it to the microbial-inoculum of activated sludge from a municipal wastewater treatment plant. The EC10 was determined to be > 1000 mg/L (nominal) and the EC50 was determined to be > 1000 mg/L (nominal).
