Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From February 15, 2017 to March 02, 2017
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Version / remarks:
The flask-shaking method was modified to be the stirring method.
Type of method:
other: Stirring method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
photometric method
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
<= -6.103
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
7

The water solubility of CR SB37 was 261.059 g/l and the solubilityof CR SB37 in octanol was 2.06 × 10-4g/l. The Pow, calculated as the quotient of the octanol and water solubility, is 7.891 × 10-7.

Conclusions:
Equivalent or similar to OECD 107 test method, the log Pow of CR SB37 was ≤ -6.103.
Executive summary:

This test using the procedures outlined in the ECIC Study Plan for 170215-04 and modified OECD 107. Since the solubility of the dye in octanol is very low, the flask-shaking method is not applicable. Based on this, it was modified to use the stirring method. The Pow, calculated as the quotient of the octanol and water solubility, is 7.891 × 10 -E7. Therefore, it corresponds with a log Pow value of -6.103.

Description of key information

The log Pow of CR SB37 was ≤ -6.103 (Modified OECD TG107).

Additional information

The flask-shaking method was modified to be the stirring method.
