Description of key information

Basil oil is a clear liquid according to the analytical data from owner company.

The freezing point of Basil oil was determined to be <-20°C according to OECD TG 102 the Differential Scanning Calorimetry method.

The boiling point of Basil oil is 201.3°C at atmospheric pressure of 101325 Pa determined in a study equivalent to method OECD TG 103 (Antoine equation instead of Clapeyron - Clausius equation).

The relative density of Basil oil was determined to be 0.8960 at 20°C in a study equivalent to OECD TG 109 using the oscillating densitometer method.

The vapour pressure of Basil oil was investigated using the Transpiration method equivalent to OECD TG 104, gas saturation method. The vapour pressure of the substance was found to be 29.1Pa at 24°C.

The partition coefficient of Basil oil has been determined as log P =2.4-5.6 at 25°C in a study equivalent to OECD Guideline 117 (HPLC Method).

The water solubility of Basil oil  was determined to be 940.5 mg/l at 24°C using a study equivalent to OECD TG 105 (Water solubility) using the shake flask method.

The flash point of Basil oil is 70.5 °C using the closed cup method study equivalent to EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point).

Basil oil has an auto-ignition temperature of 255ºC according to the guideline EU Method A.15 and DIN 51794:2003 -05.

The viscosity of Basil oil  is 4.26cPoise at 25°C in a study equivalent to the OECD TG 114 using the rotational viscometer method.
