Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

27 -61°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance was tested for its melting point according to the OECD 102 and internal SOP-STR28 by using the Differential Scanning Calorimetry. The substance presents a melting range of 27 -61 °C (onset 27.2 °C, ΔΗ=37.4 J/g), followed by the boiling of the substance between 100 -315 °C (onset 218.5 °C, ΔH = 389.8 J/g) and an endothermic decomposition of the residue from 315 -436 °C (onset 359.8 °C, ΔH=176.0 J/g).

Melting range: 27-61 °C, at 1013 hPa and 20 °C.

Available data in literature support the melting range obtained by DSC, since the melting range indicated in a report on the assessment of the substance is between 48 -53 °C ( CTFA, 1978; Elder RL (ed), 1980; Schlossman, M.L. & McCarthy, J.P. 1978).
