Description of key information

The EC50 of the 2-[(2-nitrophenyl)amino]ethanol  on Daphnia magna after 48 h of exposure under static conditions is 92.8 mg/L (95% confidence Interval = 70.9 - >100 mg/L) expressed as nominal concentration (measured concentrations represent more than 80% of the nominal concentrations). The 48h-EC10 is 46.7 mg/L (95% confidence Interval : 32.9 - 66.3 mg/L) and the NOEC is 20.7 mg/L.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of the substance 2-[(2-nitrophenyl)amino]ethanol to Daphnia magna was tested according to the OECD guideline 202 and the EU method C.2, and in conformity with the GLP.

The study was conducted under static conditions. 20 daphnies were exposed during the 48h to the following nominal concentrations : 4.3 - 9.4 - 20.7 - 45.5 - 100 mg/L. Analysis by High Performance Liquid Chromatography of the tested concentrations at the start of the test and after 48 of exposure demonstrate that the measured concentrations represents more than 80% of the nominal concentrations. So the results are expressed as nominal concentrations.

The water quality parameter (pH, oxygen) measured at T0 and T48h were within the acceptable limits. No immobilisation was observed in the controls. The validity criteria of the guideline were fulfilled.
