Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

The test substance, Bisphenol A, epichlorohydrin polymer, 2-methylimidazole condensate, was positive for skin sensitisation in the guinea pig Maximization assay. Five of 20 test animals exhibited skin reaction at the 24 hr Challenge. Therefore, the test substance is considered a mild skin sensitiser.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
The test substance was accessed for dermal sensitising potential in an O.E.C.D. test guideline 406 guinea pig Maximization study.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available (further information necessary)
Additional information:

The test substance is a skin sensitiser in the guinea pig.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
The test substance has no measurable vapor pressure. Therefore, no inhalation data is available.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based upon the outcome of the O.E.C.D. test guideline 406 guinea pig Maximization study the test substance is a Category 1, WARNING, H317, "May cause an allergic skin reaction. ".
