Description of key information

In a 96h semi static acute toxicity to fish test in Oncorrhynchus mykiss(rainbow trout), the EC50 value for the test substance BMS 233101, was >77 ug/l based on a mean measured test concentration. The NOEC was 77ug/l. There were no effects at the limit of solubility.

In a 48h acute aquatic toxicity test in Daphnia magna with the test substance BMS 233101,resulted in a EC50 value for, of > 98 ug/l based on the mean measured test concentrations. The NOEC was 98 ug/l. There were no toxic effects at the limit of solubility.

Exposure to BMS 233101 resulted in a EbC50 (72 hours) and a ErC50 (0-72 hours) of > 90 ug/l in Selenastrum Capricornutum, Strain No. CCAP 278/4 based on a mean measured value. The NOEC was determined to be 90 ug/l.

BMS 233101 had no biologically significant inhibitory effect on the respiration rate of activated sludge at 100 mg/l. The No Observed Effect Concentration (NOEC) after 3 hours exposure was 100 mg/L.

Based on the above, the substance is not classified for the environment as no effects were seen up to the limit of solubility
