The growth inhibitory effects of the test substanceto the duckweedLemna minorwere investigated according to test guideline OECD 221, under static conditions over a period of 7 days.

The test item is not well soluble. The test solutions were prepared through 96h-stirring in Swedish Standard(SIS) medium followed by filtration.

The test was performed at as a limit-test at the loading rate of 187 mg/l test item, representing 100 mg/l of the active ingredient.

Six parallel test vessels were used for the test concentration of the test item and six vessels for the blank controls.

The test concentrations during the 7-day test period were determined by DOC analytics at the beginning of the test, as well as after 2, 4 and 7 days of exposure. These analyses indicated that the test item was completely dissolved, and that the test concentration was correctly dosed. However, conclusions about the stability of the test item cannot be drawn, since DOC analytics are not substance specific. Also, since the test item contains a non-negligible share of organic substances which do not constitute the active ingredient (>16 % of other compounds similar to the test substance), as well as > 9 % of organic impurities, extrapolating the results of such non-specific analytics to the determination of the active ingredient itself is not sensible. Therefore, the effective concentrations (ErC50and EyC50) were assessed based on the nominal concentration of the test item as a whole.

No significant effects were observed at the loading rate of 187 mg/l test item as compared to the blank control for the endpoints frond number and biomass (dry weight) regarding growth rate and yield.

Based on these results, the ErC50and EyC50for the endpoints frond number and biomass were estimated to be > 187 mg/l nominal concentration of the test item.

The no observed effect concentrations (NOEC) were calculated to be 187 mg/l test item for both endpoints.
