Description of key information

OECD 221

The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory effect of the test item on the growth of the freshwater aquatic plant Lemna gibba.

The 7-day ErC50 was calculated to be > 158.7 mg test item/L for frond number and dry weight, respectively.

The 7-day NOEyC and the LOEyC for dry weight were determined to be 1.5 and 4.8 mg test item/L.

OECD 203

In the control and the only test concentration of 158.7 mg test item/L, all fish survived until the end of the experiment and showed no sublethal effects during the exposure time.

OECD 202

The toxic effect of the test item to Daphnia magna was assessed in a static limit test. The 48-hour NOEC was determined to be at least 158.7 mg test item/L. The NOEC might even be higher than this concentration, but concentrations in excess of nominal 158.7 mg test item/L have not been tested according to the recommendations of the test guidelines. The 48-hour LOEC and the 48-hour EC50 were clearly higher than 158.7 mg test item/L. These values could not be quantified due to the absence of toxicity of the test item up to 158.7 mg test item/L.

OECD 209

In a respiration test (OECD 209) the test article showed no inhibition of the respiration rate up to a concentration of 100 mg/L.

In conclusion, the test item was found to be non-toxic to waste-water bacteria.
