Additional information

The substance is not lipophilic, has a very low Log Kow value, is not considered bioaccumulative, has a high solubility value and did not show a strong classification for the environment. On the basis of the described data a secondary poisoning is therefore not expected.

Conclusion on classification

The substance is classified harmful to the environment with the R phrase 52/53 (no N symbol) and S phrase 61 (avoid release to the environment. Refer to special instructions/safety data sheets) on the basis of the EC50 value of 63.6 mg/L obtained from the daphnia magna study (static method). No other results lead to any other classification for the environment. Furthermore on the basis of the manufacturing process and the use of the substance (polymeric additive), the environment is not expected to be a primary compartment of concern.
