Description of key information

The substance is almost insoluble in aqueous solution and Talc (Mg3H2(SiO3)4) is not expected to be harmful to aquatic life. Published studies by the European Chemicals Bureau; IUCLID Dataset, Talc (14807-96-6), 2004 show that there is no acute toxicity associated with Talc for fish. Semistatic LC50 Brachydanio rerio (Zebra fish) >100000 mg/L/24 hr; for Talc. On this basis, the need for further testing for this end point has been waived and being unnecessary and scientifically unjustified. Therefore testing for Short-term toxicity to fish does not need to be performed.
