Cinchonidine hydrochloride was tested in a static Daphnia magna, Acute Immobilisation Test according to the OECD Guideline 202 for 48 h. Five nominal concentrations between 26 and 100 mg/L were used. The EC50 of cinchonidine hydrochloride is 68.09 mg/L for Daphnia magna during the test period of 48 h. According to this, the EC50 of cinchonidine is 60.5 mg/L.

Conclusion on classification

The experimentally determined EC50 of cinchonidine for invertebrates is > 1 mg/L. According to CLP 1272/2008 criteria for acute aquatic toxicity, cinchonidine does not need to be classified.
