Description of key information

A study assessing the acute contact toxicity of the test substance (diflufenzopyr sodium salt) with henoey bees (apis mellifera) was conducted. The 48-hour LD50 value was empirically estimated to be greater than 25 µg A.E./bee. The No-Observed-Effect Concentration (NOEC) was determined to be 25 µg A.E./bee.

The study assessing the acute contact toxicity of the test substance (diflufenzopyr sodium salt) with henoey bees (apis mellifera) was performed in accordance with FIFRA Guideline 141 -1. The test test (48 h duration) was conducted in total darkness, relative humidity generally ranging from 82 to 88 percent. The temperature was in the range of 29 to 32 °C. The 48-hour LD50 value was empirically estimated to be greater than 25 µg A.E./bee. The No-Observed-Effect Concentration (NOEC) was determined to be 25 µg A.E./bee. Based on these results and criteria established by the U.S. EPA (1985), the test substance (diflufenzopyr sodium salt) is classified as being practically non-toxic to Apis mellifera.
