Justification for classification or non-classification

Skin sensitisation:

Grade 1 - not classified

Grade 2 - category 1 H317 skin sensitizing species (Ni) may be present in > 1%

Respiratory sensitisation:

Grade 1 - not classified

Grade 2 - not classified

The assessed samples and derived classifications are representative for typical anode, copper materials, across the industry, and defined within the concentration ranges outlined under IUCLID section 1.2 for Grade 1 and Grade 2 respectively

Results from calculated classification (using mixture toxicity rules) are supported (WoE) by additional consideration from phys chem properties of the UVCB substance and in vitro- solubility test (see section Dermal absorption).

Substance is a massive solid.

Water solubility (IUCLID section 4.8) furthermore demonstrated that the anode copper substance is poorly soluble in water. Water solubility (IUCLID section 4.8) and Sequential dissolutions (IUCLID 4.23 Chemical assays) furthermore confirmed species present and their solubility behaviour.

In vitro solubility in accordance to EN1811 confirm the “no-classification as skin sensitizer” entry for grade 1 and the classification as "skin sensitizer" for the grade 2.
