Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Short description of key information:
It is not possible to perform the recommended in vitro genetic toxicity studies with aluminium fluoride as it is not soluble in concentrations from 500 to 0.5 mg/mL in the standard solvents (culture medium, ethanol, and dimethyl-sulfoxide). In addition, a homogenous suspension cannot be made in these solvents; aluminium fluoride particles sink to the bottom of the bottle or test tube immediately after vortexing is stopped. Based on this information, in accordance with section 2 of REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) Annex XI, the genetic toxicity studies (required in Annex VII section 8.4.1 and Annex VIII sections 8.4.2 and 8.4.3) do not need to be conducted as it is technically not possible to conduct the test due to the formation of precipitation at the required concentrations.

Endpoint Conclusion:

Justification for classification or non-classification

As it is not possible to perform the recommended in vitro genetic toxicity studies with the notifiable substance, it is not classified as a germ cell mutagen as data are lacking.
