Since no test data on the aquatic toxicity of isooctene (CAS-No.: 11071 -47 -9) are available a conclusion by analogy approach to di-n-butene has been applied.

Acute tests on all three trophic levels were performed to examine the aquatic toxicity of di-n-butene. The waterfly Daphnia magna turned out to be the most sensitive species revealing an EC50 (48h) of 3 mg/L. Thus, di-n-butene is considered to be acutely toxic to aquatic organisms. Effects of di-n-butene towards fish and algae were found in the same range providing a LC50 (48h) of 8.9 mg/L for fish and an EC50 (72h) of 4.3 mg/L for algae.

No data on long-term toxicity on fish and Daphnia are available.
