Description of key information

Skin sensitisation:

The substance is classified as corrosive to skin; therefore in accordance with column 2 of Section 8.3 of Annex VII of REACH Regulation 1907/2006 the study does not need to be conducted.

Respiratory sensitisation:

The evaluation of the monomer of dinitrogen tetraoxide, nitrogen dioxide, by MAK (2005) concluded that there is no evidence of sensitization of airways by NO2.

Justification for classification or non-classification

There is no data which would indicate potential skin or respiratory sensitizing properties of dinitrogen tetraoxide (MAK, 2005). Therefore no classification is warranted.
