Description of key information

27.6 mN/m at 20°C (measured; pure acrolein; surface tension of an aqueous acrolein solutions (<1 g/L) not available).
Based on the structure of acrolein, surface active properties are not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Degussa (1968): surface tension of pure acrolein (exp.): 27.6 mN/m at 20°C.

6. Conclusions

The experimentally determined surface tension of pure acrolein is 27.6 mN/m at 20°C.

The surface tension of an aqueous acrolein solutions is not available. Based on the structure of acrolein, surface active properties are not to be expected (see REACH R7.1.6.1).
