Insecticidal activity against larvae of D. melanogaster was demonstrated: dimethyl maleate gave the LC50 value of 6.15 mmol/mL of diet concentration. Acute toxicity against adults of D. melanogaster, dimethyl maleate had the insecticidal activity, with the LD50 value of 21.5 mg/adult.
